  • video uploads and streaming
Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes 5 artworks, 50 images total (10 per artwork), 1 private viewing room, and 3 saved PDF catalogs. No credit card required.

How much does Artwork Codex cost?

Artwork Codex has a Free plan for 5 artworks, a Starter plan from $9/month or $96/year, and a Studio plan from $29/month or $288/year. The Starter plan is for compact archives; the Studio plan includes unlimited artworks, team access for you and up to 5 teammates, media storage up to 50GB, video uploads and streaming, attach documents to artworks, unlimited viewing rooms, up to 20 media items per artwork, up to 5,000 media items total, and up to 200 saved PDF catalogs. Both paid plans include a 14-day first-time trial.

Can I try it without signing up?

Yes. The live demo lets you explore Artwork Codex for 10 minutes with sample records. No email is required. If you add your own artworks, choose Keep my artworks before time runs out, then create and verify an account on the Free plan in the same browser within 24 hours. Sample data and unsaved changes are not copied.

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes. Artwork Codex has a native iPhone app for mobile capture, quick edits, offline work, and syncing with the web dashboard.

Is it for artists or collectors?

Both. During onboarding you choose artist, collector, or both. The interface and fields adjust. For example, an artist name field appears for collectors to keep track.

Can I import from a spreadsheet?

Yes. CSV import maps common columns for artwork metadata, including tags, artist name, and provenance. Images are added separately so each upload remains attached to the correct artwork record.

Can I embed my portfolio on my website?

Yes. Published portfolios include website integrations for WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, and self-hosted websites. Copy the universal embed code or direct embed link from the Portfolio dashboard, and your website stays up to date as you update the saved portfolio in Artwork Codex.

Does Artwork Codex take commission on artwork sales?

No. Artwork Codex takes no transaction commission and does not become the seller. Artists can receive enquiries and purchase requests now. Online payments are not currently available. Learn more about selling art online with Artwork Codex.

Can I start on the Free plan and upgrade later?

Yes. Start with 5 artworks on the Free plan, with no card or time limit. Your records stay in the same account if you later upgrade.

Can I work with a team?

Yes. Studio includes team access for the account owner and up to five teammates. The owner manages invitations and access on the web; teammates can sign in on supported devices.

Do I own my data?

Yes. Paid accounts can export records as CSV, and the Studio plan can download media as ZIP files.

What does a certificate of authenticity include?

A COA can include the artwork image, title, year, medium, dimensions, edition number, a signature field, and a unique certificate number. You choose which details appear.

Website integrations

Add your portfolio to your own website.

Publish a portfolio in Artwork Codex, then place it on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, or a self-hosted website. The embedded portfolio stays connected, so changes you make in Artwork Codex can appear on your website without rebuilding the page.
